We moved states after a not-so-positive experience at our previous school, and this school has truly changed the trajectory of our child’s life. From the start, we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like part of a community.
Given our child’s unique medical diagnosis, the support and care from teachers and staff has been truly amazing. They’ve gone above and beyond to make sure our child feels safe, included, and understood every day.
We’ve seen incredible growth socially, emotionally, and academically, and we are so grateful to be part of such a supportive and caring school community.
My kids love GMCS, they have excelled in academics and social skills! The teachers have been so supportive over the years! From personal things going on to school and how my kids interact with others, it is an amazing school. Positive to being a smaller school is the friendships they make not just with the other students but the staff loving what they do, and showing it constantly! The excitement on their faces when the kids show up even after aging out its like seeing an old friend. And as a parent the ability to talk to them and feel safe when life blows up and they are supportive and looking for how they can support the kids in school and looking for ways to help parents find the right resources, i can see why my kids love going to school and sad when they have to stay home. I will keep my kids here until they age out.
As a parent with multiple children enrolled at GMCS over the past four years and a professional background in education, I have been consistently impressed by the school’s commitment to meeting students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally.
The teachers and staff truly know their students and work hard to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that go far beyond a traditional classroom. There is always something creative, meaningful, and exciting happening, which helps foster a genuine love of learning.
One area that particularly stands out is the special education department. The team goes above and beyond to support students while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with families. As a parent, I have always felt included in the process and confident that my children’s needs were being understood and addressed.
GMCS has created a welcoming community where children are encouraged to grow at their own pace while being challenged to reach their potential. The combination of individualized learning, dedicated staff, and strong family partnerships has made a lasting positive impact on our family, and we are grateful to be part of the GMCS community.
My daughter began attending GMCS this year and I could not be more confident about my choice to enroll her. I have experienced nothing but kindness and support through her transition to a new school. The administrative team demonstrates exemplary professionalism while remaining approachable. During my daughter’s first week of school, I reached out to her teacher after hours to ask some questions and share those first-week-worries. I was surprised to receive a detailed, thoughtful response that very same night. Her response left me feeling deeply reassured that my kid was in the right place. I work with youth and have high standards of care that have only been met or even surpassed by everyone at GMCS, from the front office team, her teacher, and even the school nurse. 10 out of 10, I do recommend.
This is my granddaughter’s first year as a Montessori student, and I truly appreciate the teamwork and dedication that goes into meeting her educational needs. The teachers and staff are absolutely amazing and genuinely care about each child’s success. If she could stay at Gettysburg Montessori Charter School through graduation, I wouldn’t hesitate to keep her here. I highly recommend GMCS to any family looking for a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
When our 4 grandkids moved back to PA to live with us last summer we began the process of enrolling the 3 oldest. I have always felt that a Montessori model of education is a superior experience than public schools. Gratefully, we were able to enroll each of them. As the children wrapped up their first academic year, it was clear & apparent that GMCS was the right choice. I have raised three children of my own and in those years that each attended public schools, I can say that each received a good education. It wasn’t until GMCS that I realized how much better a good education can be.
The children have thrived, the sense of community truly feels like the “village” “they” talk about needing to raise, healthy productive little humans. In what universe would you see 4 teachers attending an outside event not held by GMCS. My granddaughter had a cheer competition and her teachers SHOWED UP, flowers in hand. There is a level of investment in the school and teachers that is apparent when you step foot into the school for the first time. From the “spa” like smell, to the water feature, to the aquariums and the library which serves as the “hub” with lower shelving, fun, warm and welcoming as any library I’ve ever seen.
As a blended extended family we attended MANY of the extracurricular events, and there were many more activities that we didn’t. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the “communication” aspect. I received regular emails from the teacher, the nurse (lots of visits to her). Emails were responded to quickly, assignments, directions for the assignments, emails from their teachers not only celebrating the children, but listening to my concerns that we had during their transition were nearly a daily event. Yes, I’m not exaggerating…I can’t thank GMCS enough for the attention, care and concern that they showed our kiddos and us as a family.
