WELCOME
The Gettysburg Montessori Charter School (GMCS) is a FREE public/charter school open to students from any school district in Pennsylvania. Our charter school allows Montessori education to blend with traditional elements. Montessori emphasizes the development of the whole child: cognitive, social, and emotional, while the charter aspect requires state testing for peer monitoring and learning measurements.
(Children in a Montessori class learn through hands-on activities while teachers facilitate.)

GMCS Food Services
Dear GMCS Families,

Over the last two years, our School Nutrition Program has been operating under waivers that provide our students and families with the greatest flexibility to obtain nutritional meals during the unprecedented circumstances caused by the COVID pandemic. Unfortunately, these waivers expired on June 30, 2022.

Household Applications for Free or Reduced Meals will be required to determine free and reduced eligibility for the 2022-2023 school year unless a student is directly certified.

Many families with children just entering the school system may not be familiar with the Household Application or with the process for applying for school meals. Therefore, I will be sending you a link and instructions for Household application ~ SchoolCafe for the upcoming School Year by July 1, 2022.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Summer!

Kindly,
Rita Egloff

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires Pennsylvania to ensure that the total number of students assessed in each subject using the PASA does not exceed one percent of the total number of all students in the state assessed on the statewide assessments. Each local educational agency (LEA) must complete and submit the PASA 1.0 Percent Participation Threshold Justification to BSE if it anticipates that more than 1.0 % of its students enrolled in grades 3-8 and 11 will be assessed using the PASA. A list of LEAs who anticipate exceeding the threshold will be made publicly available on the PDE website, in accordance with 34 CFR 200.6 (c)(3) regulations.  LEAs must also make the document publicly available upon request, removing any personally identifiable information. The Gettysburg Montessori Charter School anticipates exceeding the 1.0 percent threshold for PASA participation for the 2019-20 testing cycle.  The necessary justification information has been submitted to the Bureau of Special Education.  Questions on the Gettysburg Montessori Charter School participation rates should be directed to Rebeka Black.
